How to Check if Your Android Phone Supports eSIM
Android eSIM compatibility depends on your phone's brand, model, region, and carrier settings. Even phones with the same model name may have different eSIM capabilities depending on where they were purchased.
Follow the instructions below to check your specific device before purchasing a GFS eSIM.
For Samsung Galaxy
Open your Samsung phone's settings and follow this path:
Look for Add eSIM or Add Mobile Plan. If this option appears, your phone generally supports eSIM.
Tip: Menu names can vary by Samsung model and software version. If you cannot find the option, confirm compatibility with Samsung support.
For Google Pixel
Open your Google Pixel settings and follow this path:
Tap Add SIM or the + symbol, depending on your Android version. Look for an option to download a SIM or set up an eSIM.
Tip: Not every Pixel variant supports eSIM in every region. If you are unsure, confirm your exact model with Google support or your carrier.
For Other Android Devices
On many Android phones, you can check for an eSIM identifier using the phone dialer.
Look for an EID (Embedded Identity Document) number on the screen. An EID is a strong indication that your device has eSIM hardware.
Important: Some phones do not display the EID using this code. If you cannot find it, check your device settings or contact the manufacturer.
Make Sure Your Phone Is Carrier-Unlocked
Your phone must also be able to use an eSIM from another provider. If your device is locked to a specific mobile carrier, contact that carrier to confirm whether it can be unlocked.
Important: Regional and Carrier Restrictions
Android manufacturers and mobile carriers may customize device software or disable certain features. A phone that supports eSIM in one country may not support it in another.
If you are unsure about your specific device, contact the manufacturer, your mobile carrier, or the retailer where you purchased the phone.
Is Your Android Phone Ready for GFS eSIM?
Once you have confirmed that your Android phone supports eSIM, is carrier-unlocked, and allows you to add a new mobile plan, you can choose a compatible GFS eSIM for your trip to Bali and Indonesia.
